What We Do

GardenNome

We hold monthly meetings for our members at which we enjoy an informative and motivating presentation by an expert speaker on various aspects of gardening. At the conclusion of each meeting there is a time to share some social time and some baked goodies. In the summertime, instead of indoor meetings, we conduct tours of selected local gardens to give everyone an appreciation of the various opportunities that home gardening can provide. Our final meeting (December) is our annual awards dinner with good food and plenty of time to reflect on the accomplishments of the year.

In addition to serving our members, the society also helps to keep the village of Manotick beautiful. The sites our society actively manages are A.Y. Jackson Park,  the Manotick Post Office flower beds,   Manotick Public Library landscaping,   the Pioneer Herb Garden and the Veteran’s Walk Garden besides Watson’s Mill. All of these project areas are undertaken and  maintained by volunteers of the society.

In addition we also financially support beautification of the Fragrant Garden at the Guide Dog Training School and floral displays at Dickinson House.
