Seed Saving Lunch & Chat

Wednesday October 18, 2023 12 pm – 1 pm on Zoom

This is the topic we’ve all been waiting for. Learn how to save, label, and store seeds from a genuine expert in the field of seed management. Discover natural and local resources to help planning your food garden for the following year. This Lunch & Chat Demo session will be zoomed on site at the Gaia Organic Seeds facility on River Road. We’ll focus on some specific crops people commonly like to include in their garden such as tomatoes, beans, peppers and squash.

Manish is an authentic fourth generation seed saver from India and founder of Gaia Organic Seed on River Road in Riverside South. An active blogger, sustainable gardener, Edible Ottawa platform contributor, he has worked at the Ottawa Seed Library before starting his small online organic seed order business. Manish grows over 200 garlic varieties (that’s right 200), operates his busy garden centre in the spring and hopes to expand into grain production in the near future. He would also like to inspire change in government policies to support smaller organic seed farmers such as himself.
