Hybrid Meeting
-
- Discover how rain gardens, employed in the Rain Ready Ottawa pilot program, reduce the harmful impacts of rainwater runoff.
- A wonderful day of rain is great for our garden right? Not always because much of the rainwater spills into nearby sewers, low lands, streams, rivers and lakes.
- Now let’s marry rain gardens with Fusion Landscaping (FL). FL uses texture, colour and artistic touches to create beautiful spaces which save water, reduce rainwater runoff and provide habitats for pollinators
Social Time 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm – bring a refreshment to share.

Horticultural and Design Show
The Spring Horticultural and Design Show will run in conjunction with the May speaker event.
The Horticultural and Design Show entries will be judged by an Ontario Horticultural Association (OHA) Judge. The shows are always educational and it’s great to see what our members have in their gardens!
- Horticultural Specimen Classes highlight a variety of flowers, perennials, shrubs, fruit, and vegetables that we have grown.
- Design Classes use flowers (grown or purchased) and other materials to create a design as outlined in the show schedule.
Volunteers are needed for set-up and clean-up, please sign up by clicking here.

Additional details and the design classes available here.
There is an excellent resource book entitled “Ontario Judging and Exhibiting Standards for Floral Design and Horticulture”, created by the OHA. It details how to prepare for Flower Shows, how to get your horticultural specimens ready for a show, and outlines the different types of floral designs, along with the elements to create interest. These books are $10 and are available to members by emailing mhs@manotickhorticulturalsociety.com.
