Kate Veinot

Kate Veinot (she/they) is the Community Gardening Network Coordinator at Just Food, having joined the organization earlier this year.

Kate brings in years of experience from the small business community in Ottawa, and has recently completed a certificate in Issues in Urban Agriculture through the University of Guelph. An avid gardener themself, Kate is also a co-coordinator of the Orleans Children’s Garden. Their 4-year-old daughter keeps them busy, and is also their inspiration for working toward a food secure future.

Kate’s focus when it comes to their own gardening practices is on building soil health through low-till or no-dig methods, and promoting the importance of native species to support our pollinator friends. Their newest passion project is turning their front yard garden into an edible landscape.
