In Person at Manotick United Church or on Zoom
Join us in person or register to receive the Zoom link and attend virtually. Robert Glendinning from the Central Experimental Farm will take us on an expert tour of the Ottawa Arboretum and introduce us to the older specimen trees as well as the newer acquisitions. He will discuss the tree trial program, propagation, and tree care. He will discuss tree specimens we may not be familiar with, based on their testing results for our climate. Prepare to be awed by Robert’s knowledge.

Robert has loved plants as far as he can remember. Whether it be a little cactus he begged his mother to buy or the trees of the forest surrounding his family cottage, his passion for nature endured. He began his studies in English Literature, but soon realized that was not for him. He then entered Algonquin College in the Horticulture program. After graduating, he started at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Arboretum in Ottawa where he has worked for the past 20 years. While he finds himself involved in everything from pruning to tree removal to data management, his passion is the propagation of trees and shrubs. He cares for the trees in the collection from germination to their demise. Robert Glendinning has also published several articles and leads tours at the Arboretum.
