2022 MHS Photography Contest

Class 1: 2022 Year of the Garden – A photo of one of your favourite Canadian gardens. It can be your own or one you visited. Include at least 3 varieties of plants in your photo.

Class 2: First Up – A photo of a spring bulb or perennial.

Class 3: Red for Canada! – A close up of a red flower or plant growing in your garden. The flower should fill most or all of the photo frame.

Class 4: Seeds and Pods – A photo of seeds, seeds heads or seed pods.

Class 5: Garden Bounty – A photo of fruit, vegetables, herbs, or whatever you like to eat, growing in the garden.

Class 6: Walk in the Woods – A photo of moss, fungus, mushrooms, or other living forest treasures.

Class 7: Garden Visitors – Critters large or small…. but don’t forget the horticultural component.   

– Photos should have 40% Horticultural content (plants, fruits, vegetables, flowers, trees etc.)
– Deadline for entries: November 1, 2022
– Photos must have been taken in the last 3 years
– Up to 2 entries may be submitted per class
– Photos may be adjusted for light, colour balance or cropped but should not be enhanced by adding photo elements
– Make sure photos do not have name or date printed on them
– New: Photos entered in a previous MHS photo competition will not be accepted
– Send photos to mhsphotocontests@gmail.com with the ‘class’ number in the subject line.
– Photos will be judged by a professional  judge, as well as by members for a Member’s Choice winner

By submitting photos to any MHS site you are granting MHS permission to: 1) publish the photos with your first and last name; 2) re-use the photos to promote events, and when possible, include your name.
